Trivia Tuesday

Picture
Picture
Vivian Schroeder, Quinn Schill, Quinn Savitt and Jason Lynch played trivia together as team 'Scrubby Zoom' last spring. Scrubby Zoom is a tool that Mr. Mattingly HATES in Photoshop and Illustrator. He also despises the color pink and the font Comic Sans.

Top 5 Reasons CG is the Coolest Class at MHS

1. It's Easy to Create Incredible Artwork

Picture
You don't have to have artistic talent to be successful. Many students who struggle in
regular art classes excel in CG.

"I thought I was artistically challenged until I saw what I could create in this class."
- John Horine

"Photoshop makes it easy to create amazing things you would never be able to do by hand."
- Lou Prensky

2. Relaxed Atmosphere

Picture
We turn off the lights, put on some tunes, and simply just create.

"This is by far my favorite class to come to. It was always easy for me to walk into a dark classroom and do nothing but create."
- Lexi Fuller

"CG is total chill time. I can relax and design cool stuff while listening to great music with my friends. There’s no better way to run a class!"
- Julia Kulina

3. Supportive Environment

Picture
Students are encouraged to help each other with their work and be more successful.

"Everyone shares ideas to help each other improve our work before we turn our projects in."
- Justin Falcinelli

"If I'm not sure what to do, I walk around and see how other people are approaching it or I’ll call a friend over for help."
- Maggi Currier

4. CG Friday Playlist

Picture
Every Friday we listen to a playlist of super fun songs to wrap up the week with.

"I actually look forward to Fridays in CG just because of the playlist. By the end of the course you'll be singing along to every song."
- Emma Dainton

"The CG Friday playlist is full of fantastic songs that put you in a great mood to end the week."
- Ryan Gilroy

5. Trivia Tuesday

Picture
Every Tuesday, we break into teams and play a quick game of trivia.

"Everyone really looks forward to Trivia Tuesday. It's fun and we love to test our knowledge of everyday things."
- Bradley Rinehart

"Trivia Tuesday is beyond awesome. I learn new, if not random, facts and get to chat and laugh with my teammates who I’ve come to adore."
- Ayla Troup

Course Descriptions:
Computer Graphics 1: Students focus on the fun exciting world of Adobe Photoshop while learning the fundamentals of graphic design.
Computer Graphics 2: Students move forward with Photoshop while exploring Adobe Illustrator as we delve into more sophisticated design concepts.
Computer Graphics 3: Photoshop and Illustrator are both integral in this course that focuses on advanced concepts and projects.
Computer Graphics 4: Students prepare complete, high-level portfolios for college and/or professional work.

NEW! Animation: Students demonstrate the 12 principles of animation using Adobe Animate.

Message from the Instructor:
I have been a freelance graphic designer since 1986 and have taught Computer Graphics at MHS since 1996. Every day I get to come to work and teach my life's passion to amazing young people. When people say hi to me and ask me how I am doing, my standard response has always been "living the dream." And it's true. I've been teaching the same subject, in the same room, for over two decades, and I still cannot wait to get to work in the morning. I realize just how truly blessed I am to be able to say that. I want to thank all my students, past and present, for making my job so incredibly fun and rewarding.
